Rybelsus price in the UAE

The short answer

Rybelsus (oral semaglutide) costs AED 641 for 30 tablets in the UAE at every strength (3, 7 or 14 mg), on Abu Dhabi's official drug list from 2 October 2026. A pack lasts a month, so 12 packs come to AED 7,692. Rybelsus is a type 2 diabetes medicine, and insurance may pay for it when strict criteria are met.

Before you go further
  • GLP‑1 medicines are prescription-only in the UAE, and Abu Dhabi's Department of Health tells the public not to buy them without a prescription, online or through adverts.1,2
  • Prices here are official prices to the public, from Abu Dhabi's drug list. We don't name, link or rank sellers, and nothing here is for sale.
  • Nothing here promises any result. The risks are in Guide 5: Side effects and risks.

Why is every strength the same price?

UAE medicine prices are set at registration, and Rybelsus carries one price, AED 641 for 30 tablets, at 3 mg, 7 mg and 14 mg.3,4

So moving up a dose doesn't change the monthly cost. Daman's guideline gives the usual steps: 3 mg once daily for 30 days, then 7 mg, with 14 mg if needed and tolerated.5 At AED 641 a pack, a dose costs about AED 21, and 12 packs cost AED 7,692, by our arithmetic.3

How do you take Rybelsus?

Take it on an empty stomach after at least 8 hours without food, with up to half a glass (120 ml) of water, then wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking or taking other tablets.6

Waiting less than 30 minutes lowers how much semaglutide you absorb, the EU label says.6 In Ramadan that usually means taking it at Suhoor; see Does a GLP‑1 injection break my fast?

Will insurance pay for Rybelsus?

For type 2 diabetes it may. Daman covers GLP‑1 medicines, Rybelsus included, when you meet all its criteria, including an HbA1c of 6.5% or more.5

Dubai's basic plan caps all medicines at AED 2,500, including a 30% co-insurance on each prescription, which is the price of fewer than 4 packs.3,7 Rybelsus is approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss.6 The oral semaglutide approved for weight in the UAE is the Wegovy pill; see How much is the Wegovy pill in the UAE? and Guide 6.

RisksThe risks, in brief
  • Stomach effects are common. In the EU Rybelsus trials, 15 in 100 people felt sick (nausea), 10 in 100 had diarrhoea and 7 in 100 vomited.6
  • Gallstones are uncommon (1 in 100 to 1 in 1,000) and a swollen pancreas (acute pancreatitis) is rare (1 in 1,000 to 1 in 10,000) on the EU Rybelsus label.6
  • Low blood sugar. Severe low blood sugar was seen mainly with a sulfonylurea or insulin, the EU label says.6
