Can I leave Mounjaro out of the fridge in UAE heat?
Only below 30 °C. Once in use, a Mounjaro (tirzepatide) KwikPen can stay out of the fridge for up to 30 days below 30 °C, then it must be thrown away, the EU label says. UAE summer temperatures reach about 50 °C, so in summer keep the pen in the fridge or a cool room, never in a parked car.
What does the label allow?
Unused pens go in the fridge at 2 °C to 8 °C. After first use, the KwikPen can be kept in the fridge or below 30 °C, and it must be thrown away 30 days after first use.1
The EU label also lets the pen reach you unrefrigerated, below 30 °C, for up to 72 hours. Never freeze it.1 We couldn't check the UAE label text, so these limits come from the EU label. For comparison, Wegovy and Ozempic pens last 6 weeks after first use, below 30 °C or in a fridge.2,3
How hot does it get in the UAE?
Sweihan in Al Ain reached 51.8 °C on 1 August 2025, and the next day's forecasts were 44 °C for Dubai and 46 °C for Abu Dhabi.4
That is far above the 30 °C limit. Keep pens out of parked cars, glove boxes and sunny windowsills; Ozempic's instructions say never to leave a pen in a car.5 Indoors, a pen is fine only where the room stays below 30 °C. If you can't be sure, the fridge is the safer place, as long as the pen doesn't freeze or touch ice packs.6
What if the pen got too hot?
The label gives no allowance above 30 °C, so a pen that got hotter is outside its storage conditions and you can't know it still works as it should.1
The EU leaflet says not to use a pen that was frozen, is damaged, or holds medicine that is cloudy, discoloured or has particles in it.1 Ask a pharmacist before using a pen that overheated. Travel tips are in Can I fly into Dubai with my Ozempic pen?, and daily life on a GLP‑1 is in Guide 8.
