How long can Mounjaro be out of the fridge?

What does the label say for each form?

The limit depends on which Mounjaro you have, and all forms start in the fridge at 2 to 8°C.¹ A KwikPen holds four weekly doses, so a pen in use runs about four weeks, inside its 30-day limit.¹

• KwikPen (multi-dose pen): in use, up to 30 days unrefrigerated at temperatures not above 30°C.¹
• Single-dose pen or vial: up to 21 days unrefrigerated at temperatures not above 30°C.¹
• All forms: don't freeze and don't shake. Keep the KwikPen protected from light, and pens and vials in their carton.¹

What if it gets hotter than 30°C?

The label gives no allowance above 30°C, so a pen that has been hotter is outside the label’s storage conditions.¹

Ask a pharmacist before you use it, and tell them how hot it got and for how long. Wegovy's label adds that its pens should be protected from excessive heat, and not used if they have been frozen.² The Ozempic leaflet says not to expose its pen to heat or direct sunlight, or to store it in the car.³ Travel tips for the heat are in Guide 8.

How do Wegovy and Ozempic compare?

Wegovy and Ozempic pens allow longer: Wegovy FlexTouch up to 42 days below 30°C after first use, and Ozempic 6 weeks.^2,3

Ozempic in use can be kept at room temperature not above 30°C or in the fridge.³ Wegovy's single-dose pen allows 28 days not above 30°C.² Both labels say not to use the medicine if it isn't clear and colourless.^2,3 When a pen is finished, see Where do I throw away used pens?
