Per month and per year. A year is 52 weeks: 52 weekly doses, or 364 days of a daily medicine. We work out the cost of one dose (or one day) from the pack, multiply it by 52 (or 364) for the year, and divide the year by 12 for a month. So a month of a weekly pen costs a little more than one pen of 4 doses: a year takes 13 pens, not 12. This is the method our cost calculator uses. Rounded to the nearest dollar.
Grouped by medicine, in alphabetical order. Not sorted by price, and not a recommendation. We don't list or link pharmacies, clinics or online sellers. Your prescriber sets the medicine and the dose.
How we get these prices
Official prices only, in Canadian dollars: Ontario's public formulary, the maker's price submitted to Canada's Drug Agency, or the BC Ministry of Health's wholesale estimate. Never a savings-card, pharmacy, clinic or promotional price. A dose with no official price is null and shown as 'Not published'.

Questions people ask
How much does Wegovy cost in Canada?
The maker's price submitted to Canada's Drug Agency of Wegovy is $388.64 at every dose, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about $5,052 a year.2
How much does Zepbound cost in Canada?
The maker's price submitted to Canada's Drug Agency of Zepbound is $300 at 2.5 and 5 mg, $420 at 7.5 and 10 mg and $540 at 12.5 and 15 mg, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about $3,900–$7,020 a year.17
Is that what I pay at the pharmacy?
Not exactly. The pharmacy adds its markup and dispensing fee; the BC wholesale estimates (marked ≈) leave both out.3 What you pay then depends on your plan. Ontario's public plan covers semaglutide for adults with type 2 diabetes under Limited Use rules;18 BC PharmaCare doesn't cover Wegovy;19 and only a small number of private insurers cover these medicines for weight management.20
Which of these medicines are for type 2 diabetes only?
Trulicity, Victoza, Generic semaglutide, Ozempic, Rybelsus and Mounjaro are approved in Canada for type 2 diabetes only, and the table labels them "Type 2 diabetes only".5,8,9,10,11,14 Some contain the same medicine as a brand approved for weight (Ozempic and Wegovy are both semaglutide), but the approved uses, doses and price differ.
Why is a year 13 pens and not 12?
A weekly pen holds 4 doses, so it lasts 4 weeks. A year is 52 weeks, so it takes 13 pens, and a month (a twelfth of the year) costs a little more than one pen. For daily medicines we count 364 days. This is how our cost calculator counts.
Why don't you show the cheapest price or pharmacy prices?
We show official prices from public sources only. Sellers' prices change often and differ from shop to shop, and listing them would turn a guide into a shopping list. That's why the table is grouped by medicine, never sorted by price, and names no pharmacy, clinic or online seller. How we show prices.
