GLP‑1 medicines and prices in India
Every GLP‑1 medicine sold in India, at every dose: the price of a pack, and what that comes to a month and a year.
Prices here are MRPs: the maximum retail price the maker prints on the pack, including GST. We take the MRP from the maker's own statement first, then a dated news report, then the price regulator (NPPA), and last from at least two pharmacy listings that show the same MRP. Never a discount price. Health insurance in India usually doesn't pay for these medicines.1,2

Per month and per year. A year is 52 weeks: 52 weekly doses, or 364 days of a daily medicine. We work out the cost of one dose (or one day) from the pack, multiply it by 52 (or 364) for the year, and divide the year by 12 for a month. So a month of a weekly pen costs a little more than one pen of 4 doses: a year takes 13 pens, not 12. This is the method our cost calculator uses. Rounded to the nearest rupee.
Grouped by medicine, in alphabetical order. Not sorted by price, and not a recommendation. We don't list or link pharmacies, clinics or online sellers. Your prescriber sets the medicine and the dose.
How we get these prices
MRP only (the maker's printed list price). Pharmacy selling or discounted prices are never used. A dose with no MRP at any of the four levels below is null and shown as 'Not published'.
- Maker: the company's own price statement or press release
- News report naming the maker's price
- NPPA (government price regulator) notice
- MRP printed on at least 2 agreeing pharmacy listings
We count a year as 52 weekly doses, so a month is about 4.3 doses.

Questions people ask
How much does Wegovy cost in India?
The MRP of Wegovy is ₹5,660 at 0.25 mg, ₹8,100 at 0.5 mg, ₹9,100 at 1 mg, ₹12,750 at 1.7 mg and ₹16,400 at 2.4 mg, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about ₹73,580–2,13,200 a year.18,27,28,29
How much does Mounjaro cost in India?
The MRP of Mounjaro is ₹13,125 at 2.5 mg, ₹16,406 at 5 mg, ₹20,625 at 7.5 and 10 mg and ₹25,781 at 12.5 and 15 mg, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about ₹1,70,625–3,35,153 a year.32
Does health insurance pay for these medicines in India?
Usually not covered. Standard health insurance in India pays when you are admitted to hospital; an OPD add-on may cover some medicines and tests.1,2 Many policies also exclude obesity and weight-control treatment.2
Which of these medicines are for type 2 diabetes only?
Trulicity, Lirafit, Victoza, Ozempic and Rybelsus are approved in India for type 2 diabetes only, and the table labels them "Type 2 diabetes only".6,8,18,19,23 Some contain the same medicine as a brand approved for weight (Ozempic and Wegovy are both semaglutide), but the approved uses, doses and price differ.
Why is a year 13 pens and not 12?
A weekly pen holds 4 doses, so it lasts 4 weeks. A year is 52 weeks, so it takes 13 pens, and a month (a twelfth of the year) costs a little more than one pen. For daily medicines we count 364 days. This is how our cost calculator counts.
Why don't you show the cheapest price or pharmacy prices?
We show MRPs from the maker, news reports, the price regulator or matching pharmacy listings only. Sellers' prices change often and differ from shop to shop, and listing them would turn a guide into a shopping list. That's why the table is grouped by medicine, never sorted by price, and names no pharmacy, clinic or online seller. How we show prices.
