What the GLP‑1 trials found
Pick a medicine sold in India and a dose to see its main trial as the label reports it: average weight change, how many people reached 5, 10, 15 or 20%, and the side effects and stopping rates beside them.
Pick a medicine and dose
Shows what the trial's averages and proportions would mean in kilograms. Not a prediction.
- People were put into groups by chance: one got the medicine, one got a placebo (a dummy injection or dummy pill with no medicine in it).
- Both groups got the same diet and activity advice.
- The gap between the two groups is what the medicine added.

How this works
For each medicine we use the main trial reported in its label (prescribing information). India's pack inserts for these medicines are approved by CDSCO but aren't published online, so we use the US labels, which report each trial in full: section 14 ("Clinical studies") for weight, and section 6.1 for side effects and stopping rates, which often pools several trials; the card says which. Where the label doesn't give a number for that trial alone, we use the published trial paper and say so. Every number sits in one data block on this page with its source.
CDSCO expert-committee minutes show India's Wegovy, Poviztra, Ozempic and Rybelsus inserts are updated in line with the EU label.13 The EU label reports the same trials, sometimes with a different analysis. Each card says what the EU label gives: the same STEP 1 and PIONEER 1 figures, but different figures for SUSTAIN 1, SURMOUNT-1 and SURPASS-1, because it counts the data differently.
The trials are the same worldwide, so the results don't depend on where the medicine is sold. Only medicines sold in India are shown.8 Poviztra is the same semaglutide as Wegovy, and Yurpeak the same tirzepatide as Mounjaro. In India, Mounjaro is approved for weight and for type 2 diabetes, so it has a card for each: the weight trial comes from the US label for tirzepatide for weight (sold in the US as Zepbound).
"Mean" weight change is the average for the whole group. The share who reached at least 5, 10, 15 or 20% shows the spread: it's a range, not one number. If you enter your weight, we multiply it by the same percentages. That's arithmetic on trial averages, not a forecast.
Ozempic and Rybelsus are approved in India for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. For them, and for Mounjaro's diabetes trial, the labels report weight change in kilograms only, so we show that and nothing more.
What this can't tell you
- How much you will lose. Your result depends on you, your dose and how long you take it, and isn't predicted by a trial average.
- Which medicine works more. Separate trials can't be ranked.
- How results differ in Indian people. These trials enrolled people from many countries; few were from India.
- What happens after stopping. Weight usually comes back in part: see Stopping and the long term.
- Rare or long-term risks. Those are in each label's warnings, and in Side effects and risks.
Questions people ask
Can I compare the numbers for different medicines?
No. Each trial had different people, lengths, doses and diet advice, so the numbers can't be ranked against each other. Only a head-to-head trial, where both medicines are tested in the same trial, can compare them.
Is this how much weight I will lose?
No. These are trial averages, not a prediction for you. In every trial some people lost much more than the average and some lost very little. That's why the tool shows how many people reached each amount, not one number.
What is a placebo?
A dummy injection or dummy pill with no medicine in it. In these trials people were put into groups by chance, and both groups got the same diet and activity advice. The gap between the medicine group and the dummy group is what the medicine added.
Why are Ozempic and Rybelsus shown differently?
They're approved in India for type 2 diabetes, not weight loss. Their labels report weight change from diabetes trials in kilograms, and not how many people lost 5% or more, so the tool shows only the average change for them. Mounjaro's diabetes trial is shown the same way.
Which label do these numbers come from?
India's pack inserts for these medicines are approved by CDSCO but aren't published online, so we can't quote them. The trials are the same everywhere, and the US labels report them in full, with side-effect tables for each dose. CDSCO records show the Novo Nordisk inserts (Wegovy, Poviztra, Ozempic, Rybelsus) follow the EU label, so each card also says what the EU label reports. For Wegovy and Rybelsus it gives the same figures; for Ozempic and Mounjaro it uses a different analysis, and the card gives its figures too.13
Is anything I enter saved or sent?
No. The weight you enter is used only in your browser to turn the trial percentages into kilograms. Nothing is sent or stored.

How this tool was made. Written by the GLP Guidebook team from the US and EU labels and trial papers above, each opened and checked. We looked for India's own pack inserts on 14 Oct 2026 (the makers' and marketers' Indian websites, CDSCO and web searches) and found none published online. The trials were paid for by the makers of the medicines (Novo Nordisk or Eli Lilly). It's general information, not medical advice, and it doesn't replace the label or your doctor.
