What is the MRP of Rybelsus in India?
In India, the MRP of Rybelsus (semaglutide tablets) is ₹2,972 to ₹3,170 for a strip of 10 at 3 mg. It is ₹3,300 at 7 mg and ₹3,628 at 14 mg, as printed on pharmacy listings checked on 5 October 2026. That is ₹297 to ₹363 a day. Its Indian approval covers type 2 diabetes only.
- Rybelsus and other GLP‑1 medicines are prescription-only in India, not sold over the counter.10
- A government statement on 1 Apr 2026 said only endocrinologists, internal-medicine specialists and cardiologists can prescribe them.10 CDSCO expert-committee minutes attach a similar condition to some approvals (endocrinologist or internal-medicine specialist), but we found no rule covering every brand.11
- In India, Rybelsus is approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss.2
- The risks are in Guide 5: Side effects and risks.

What does each strength of Rybelsus cost?
Each strength comes in a strip of 10 tablets, with an MRP from ₹2,972 to ₹3,170 at 3 mg to ₹3,628 at 14 mg.1
We found no Indian price from the maker, Novo Nordisk, or in a news report. So these are the MRPs printed on pharmacy listings that agreed, checked on 5 Oct 2026. For 3 mg they no longer agree: on 11 Oct 2026 PharmEasy gave ₹3,170 a strip and Medkart ₹2,971.88, so we show both.1 Some listings show paise (₹2,971.88 and ₹3,628.13); we round to the rupee. Rybelsus is one tablet a day, so a strip lasts 10 days.3
| Dose | MRP, strip of 10 | Per day | 30 days | 365 tablets |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 mg | ₹2,972 to ₹3,1701 | ₹297 to ₹317 | ₹8,916 to ₹9,510 | ₹1,08,474 to ₹1,15,701 |
| 7 mg | ₹3,3001 | ₹330 | ₹9,900 | ₹1,20,450 |
| 14 mg | ₹3,6281 | ₹363 | ₹10,884 | ₹1,32,427 |
MRP printed on pharmacy listings, checked 5 Oct 2026. Per day, 30 days and 365 tablets are our arithmetic. 3 mg is a one-month starting dose, so its 365-tablet figure is for comparison only.3
On 30 March 2026, Novo Nordisk cut Ozempic and Wegovy prices but said no similar Rybelsus cut was planned.4
What does a year of Rybelsus cost?
A first year that follows the US label's steps up to 14 mg comes to about ₹1,29,474 at the MRPs above.1,3
The US label starts on 3 mg for 30 days, a dose it says does not control blood sugar.3 Next comes 7 mg for 30 days. From day 61, the dose stays at 7 mg or goes up to 14 mg.3 Torrent's Indian label for its own semaglutide tablets, Semalix, also starts at 3 mg once daily for one month, then 7 mg or 14 mg.12
If the dose stays at 7 mg after the first month, year one comes to about ₹1,19,466.1,3 The doctor sets the dose, and a different path changes the total. The table above gives a full year at each single strength.

Are there other semaglutide tablets in India, and what do they cost?
Yes. Torrent and Dr Reddy's are among the makers selling semaglutide tablets in Rybelsus's 3, 7 and 14 mg strengths.4,5,9
Torrent says it was the first Indian company to launch these tablets. It did so on 21 March 2026, as Sembolic and Semalix.6 We found no maker or news price for either. Pharmacy listings print the same MRPs for both. A strip of 10 is ₹1,090, ₹1,490 and ₹2,540 at 3, 7 and 14 mg.7
Dr Reddy's launched Obeda tablets on 20 May 2026 at ₹99, ₹135 and ₹225 a tablet, BusinessToday reported.5 For 10 tablets, that is ₹990, ₹1,350 and ₹2,250 (our arithmetic). They appear here in launch order. Sembolic, Semalix and Obeda are also the names of injections, so check the form on the box.4,6 More detail is in our post on semaglutide tablets in India.
Were semaglutide tablets part of the July 2026 recalls?
In July 2026, Torrent recalled some Semalix 2 mg and 4 mg injection pens made by Dr Reddy's. It said its Semalix and Sembolic tablets were not affected.9
Dr Reddy's also recalled some batches of its own brand, Obeda. The report did not say which form.9 On 9 July 2026, Dr Reddy's told stock exchanges that some semaglutide batches had failed a quality test. Supplies would be delayed until the issue was fixed. That notice did not name a form either.8 What was recalled, and what to do with a pack, is in Guide 6 and in our post on the 2026 recalls.
