GLP‑1 medicines and prices in the UK

Every GLP‑1 medicine sold in the UK, at every dose: the price of a pack, and what that comes to a month and a year.

Prices here are NHS list prices, excluding VAT, from the NHS Drug Tariff and the NHS Business Services Authority's prescribing data.1,2 They're what the NHS is charged before its own discounts, not what you pay. On an NHS prescription in England you pay £9.90 an item;3 in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland prescriptions are free.4,5,6 Private prescriptions are priced by each seller, and we don't list those.

Before you go further. These are prescription-only medicines. On the NHS, who can get them depends on the medicine and where you live; privately, a healthcare professional must consult you before prescribing.7 They have real risks: read Side effects and risks first. A lower price doesn't make a medicine right for you.

Per month and per year. A year is 52 weeks: 52 weekly doses, or 364 days of a daily medicine. We work out the cost of one dose (or one day) from the pack, multiply it by 52 (or 364) for the year, and divide the year by 12 for a month. So a month of a weekly pen costs a little more than one pen of 4 doses: a year takes 13 pens, not 12. This is the method our cost calculator uses. Rounded to the nearest pound.

Grouped by medicine, in alphabetical order. Not sorted by price, and not a recommendation. We don't list or link pharmacies, clinics or online sellers. Your prescriber sets the medicine and the dose.

How we get these prices

NHS list prices only, excluding VAT, from official sources: the NHSBSA Drug Tariff, NHSBSA prescribing data (the basic NHS price) and NICE. Never a seller's price, discount or coupon. A dose with no official list price is null and shown as 'Not published'.

Questions people ask

How much does Mounjaro cost in the UK?

The NHS list price (excluding VAT) of Mounjaro is £133 at 2.5 mg, £180 at 5 mg, £255 at 7.5 and 10 mg and £330 at 12.5 and 15 mg, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about £1,729–£4,290 a year.1

How much does Wegovy cost in the UK?

The NHS list price (excluding VAT) of Wegovy is £73.25 at 0.25, 0.5 and 1 mg, £124.53 at 1.7 mg, £175.80 at 2.4 mg and £330 at 7.2 mg, for a pack of 4 weekly doses. That comes to about £952–£4,290 a year.1,2

Is that what I pay?

No. On an NHS prescription in England you pay the prescription charge, £9.90 an item, whatever the medicine costs the NHS. A prepayment certificate covers all your prescriptions for £32.05 for 3 months or £114.50 for 12 months.3 Prescriptions are free in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.4,5,6 A private prescription costs whatever the seller charges; we don't list those prices.

Which of these medicines are for type 2 diabetes only?

Trulicity, Ozempic and Rybelsus are approved in the UK for type 2 diabetes only, and the table labels them "Type 2 diabetes only".8,12,13 Some contain the same medicine as a brand approved for weight (Ozempic and Wegovy are both semaglutide), but the approved uses, doses and price differ.

Why is a year 13 pens and not 12?

A weekly pen holds 4 doses, so it lasts 4 weeks. A year is 52 weeks, so it takes 13 pens, and a month (a twelfth of the year) costs a little more than one pen. For daily medicines we count 364 days. This is how our cost calculator counts.

Why don't you show the cheapest price or pharmacy prices?

We show official NHS list prices only. Sellers' prices change often and differ from shop to shop, and listing them would turn a guide into a shopping list. That's why the table is grouped by medicine, never sorted by price, and names no pharmacy, clinic or online seller. How we show prices.
