How much is Wegovy without insurance?

The short answer

Without insurance, Novo Nordisk’s US self-pay price for Wegovy (semaglutide) pens is $349 a month for any dose up to 2.4 mg, and $399 for the 7.2 mg Wegovy HD pen. New patients pay $199 a month for their first 2 months. The Wegovy pill costs $149 to $299 a month, per Novo’s April 2026 price guide.

Before you go further
  • GLP‑1 medicines are prescription-only in the US. A licensed clinician has to decide they suit you before any price applies.
  • Prices here are list prices or the makers’ own published self-pay prices, each with its source and the date we checked it. We never quote a seller’s price, and we don’t name or rank pharmacies or telehealth companies.
  • Prices and offers change often. Check the date next to each one.
  • Nothing here promises any result, and nothing here is for sale.

What does each Wegovy dose cost without insurance?

Novo Nordisk’s April 2026 price guide sets one self-pay price for every Wegovy pen dose from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg: $349 a month.1

Wegovy form and doseSelf-pay price a month
Pen, 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg, first 2 months (new patients)$199
Pen, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 or 2.4 mg$349
Wegovy HD pen, 7.2 mg$399
Pill, 1.5 mg$149
Pill, 4 mg$199
Pill, 9 mg or 25 mg$299

Novo Nordisk’s self-pay prices from its Wegovy price guide (April 2026), checked October 12, 2026.1 A month is 1 box of 4 pens or 1 bottle of 30 tablets.

The $199 offer covers 2 monthly fills, through December 31, 2026. Novo says it can change or cancel the program at any time.1 Since March 31, 2026, Novo has also offered lower monthly prices to self-pay patients who commit to 3, 6 or 12 months: $329, $299 or $249 a month for pens from 0.25 mg to 2.4 mg. These subscriptions are sold only through some telehealth companies, which we don’t name.7 The pill has its own page: How much is the Wegovy pill?

What does a year of Wegovy cost, and what is the list price?

A year is 52 weekly doses, or 13 boxes of 4 pens, so a year at $349 a box comes to $4,537 before any discount.

That is our arithmetic from the price guide.1 A first year starting on the $199 offer comes to $4,237: 2 boxes at $199, then 11 at $349.

The list price is different. It is what Novo charges before discounts and rebates, and it is the figure insurers start from. On October 12, 2026 the government site TrumpRx.gov showed Wegovy’s undiscounted “original price” as $1,349 a month.2 Novo says the list price of Wegovy 2.4 mg pens and 25 mg tablets will fall to $675 a month on January 1, 2027, a cut of about 50%, and that this “do[es] not have an impact on… self-pay prices”.3

What if you have insurance or Medicare?

With commercial insurance that covers Wegovy, Novo’s savings offer lets you pay as little as $25 a month, with savings capped at $100 a month.1,4

The copay offer’s terms exclude anyone with Medicare, Medicaid, the VA, TRICARE or another government health program.4 People with Medicare have a separate route, the $50-a-month Medicare GLP‑1 Bridge, which covers Wegovy pens and tablets for weight if they meet its criteria.6 See Does the Wegovy or Zepbound savings card work with Medicare? and Guide 6 for how prescriptions and coverage work.

RisksThe risks, in brief
  • Stomach effects are very common. Over 68 weeks, 44 in 100 adults on Wegovy 2.4 mg had nausea, against 16 in 100 on a placebo (dummy injection), on the US label.5
  • Pancreas and gallbladder. The US label warns of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) and gallbladder problems, including gallstones.5
  • Thyroid warning. Don’t use Wegovy if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC, a rare thyroid cancer), or if you have MEN 2 (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, an inherited condition that causes gland tumors).5
  • Pregnancy. The Medication Guide says to stop Wegovy 2 months before you plan to become pregnant.5
