What is the MRP of Ozempic in India?
The MRP of Ozempic (semaglutide) in India is ₹5,660 to ₹9,100 for 4 weekly doses, depending on strength, since Novo Nordisk's price cut of 1 April 2026. That is ₹1,415 a week at the 0.25 mg starting dose and ₹2,275 a week at 1 mg. A year following the US label's dose steps up to 1 mg costs about ₹1,13,860.
- Ozempic is prescription-only in India, not sold over the counter. It is approved here for type 2 diabetes.2,11
- A government statement on 1 Apr 2026 said only endocrinologists, internal-medicine specialists and cardiologists can prescribe them.11 CDSCO expert-committee minutes attach a similar condition to some approvals (endocrinologist or internal-medicine specialist), but we found no rule covering every brand.12
- MRP is the printed maximum price. Pharmacies may sell below it.5
- The risks are in Guide 5: Side effects and risks. No price here is a recommendation.

Novo Nordisk cut the 0.25 mg price by 36% from 1 April 2026, to ₹1,415 a week including taxes.1 It said the 1 mg dose now costs ₹2,275 a week.3 We found no maker or news figure for 0.5 mg. That row uses the MRP printed on 2 pharmacy listings.5 Before the cut, the 3 strengths cost ₹8,800 to ₹11,175.2 Ozempic launched in December 2025 at ₹2,200 a week for the lowest dose.4 Each Indian pen holds one strength: 1.5 ml at 0.25 or 0.5 mg, 3 ml at 1 mg.5 We found no public Indian leaflet, but the matching EU pens deliver 4 doses each.13

What does a year of Ozempic cost at MRP?
A year that follows the US label's dose steps up to 1 mg costs about ₹1,13,860 in medicine at MRP, before doctor visits and tests.1,3,5,6
The US label starts at 0.25 mg for 4 weeks, then moves to 0.5 mg. It allows 1 mg after at least 4 weeks on 0.5 mg, if blood sugar needs more control.6 We found no public Indian label. Over 52 weekly doses:
- Up to 1 mg: 4 × ₹1,415 + 4 × ₹2,025 + 44 × ₹2,275 = ₹1,13,860.1,3,5
- Staying on 0.5 mg: 4 × ₹1,415 + 48 × ₹2,025 = ₹1,02,860.1,5
Your doctor sets the dose, and may move more slowly. Guide 6 adds visits and blood tests to the medicine bill. Our post on a year's all-in cost sets it beside Mounjaro and Wegovy.
